Changed it 3years ago!

Oh well, good I found it and it's an easy fix.

I'd heard that, but I don't like to gossip...

 

Drove it for 229 miles to Bristol and back. Visited Lacock Abbey and had lunch in the pub opposite. Bought 20L of petrol for £32.98 at Membury on the way back... Refurbished gearbox is nice and smooth.

So that makes 650 miles so far in 2022.

 

Don't rush the jobs, save something for another day.

I am doing a life test on an aluminium case....vs AS41 or AS21..

 

It will be interesting to see what difference the 2% makes.

 

I think he has a proper ali case now.

 

You mean over 90%... AS41 is 95% magnesium 4% aluminium 1% silicon. Yes I have an aluminum cased T1 engine.

 

Best decision in your engine spec IMO.

 

Yes, the AS21 has only 2% aluminium and 1% silicon, I think the AS21 is harder but more susceptible to cracking. The silicon is there to provide fluidity, makes sure that the mould is filled in all the nooks and cranies.

 

Have you an idea of which alloy is used for the 'Aluminium ' cases. It could be LM25 but whatever it is there will be some silicon to give the fluidity required.
