The only time I noticed pinking was when I set the timing well advanced by mistake then tried to accelerate up a gentle slope from 30 to 40mph on a hot day with the window open next to a fence that reflected sound.. I drove at least 2 miles before that without noticing.

 

Replaced these crappy bits


Replaced flat tyre.

Washed it.

Adjusted clutch and handbrake.

100 mile test drive

 

Deffo seen better days...

A more delicate and heducated setting of hydraulic lifters

tappit and unwrap it - Terry’s Chocolate Orange

 

Did a blood transfusion and put new chassis ground strap on and a new negative terminal as the quick release one was loose and causing me too much bother. Then tidied up some wiring under dash, that’s enough for now. Oh and gave him a bath for good measure.
In Italy now so time for a couple of beers

Thought about try to solve the mystery as to why the leisure battery isn’t working, but decided to go for a drive and a cup of tea instead!

Taken the kitchen surface off for (hopefully) the last 2wks of carpentry.

 

Filled up with petrol and forgot to put the filler cap back on...AGAIN!!!!!

 

Finally managed to change the ignition switch. I removed the steering column tube to do it and tidied up the under dashboard wiring while at it.

 

After setting valves, I blew some carp out of one of my carb jets. Back to even running again. Ah nice

 

Worth doing. I found a complete haddock in one of my Dells. Engine ran much better without it.
