Brilliant. It’s all about trying to offset the pollution stats so they can build a 3rd runway at Heathrow and then allow 700 more flights across London anyway. It’s obscene.

  8. Extended to include the M25 Area

  9. The Manchester scheme covered a vast area ,it's on hold at the moment and the cameras have been handed over to the police while they try to make a bigger hash of it .

With the technology they have to read number plates, they could have created special groups of exception or extra time categories for people on low incomes etc.

  16. Shouldn't need exceptions, it shouldn't be a thing in the first place.

It's never been about air quality, its always been about money.

I'd agree with you in regard to the congestion zone, but I wonder how many vehicles will remain that can be charged after a few years and and make money?

    Edit
Lets be honest, combustion driven vehicles do polute and cause breathing/health issues, so some control if volumes in a busy city are probably and intrinsically a good idea. How it's done is a separate argument :)

There are legal moves to relate acts of pollution to organisations and entities (including governments) and sue them.

I don't know if this is what the ULEZ is trying to alleviate, on a different note, it does make me laugh how some performance car owners are now listing dual carriageways and A roads out of towns to enable them to clean out their particulate filters - cheers for that.

  19. Britain contributes less than 1% of the worlds emissions.
    Of that, vehicles contribute 0.025%
Also, since 2000 the UK's carbon 'footprint' has declined 15%, EU declined 10%, China increased 220%.

Agreed - but you must admit - the quality of air in places like London is terrible.
